- Says it is great for having a ground game, but it lacks practicality in self defense
- Says that BJJ has turned into a style where you are only good against other BJJ fighters, but become vulnerable against other types of fighting styles that are not BJJ
- Says that most of the BJJ moves don't work in the real world because the majority of the time you are on your back :dame:

The Coli told me BJJ would work against a wild Bear or Tiger. Ya'll lied :lupe: :hubie:

Wrestling or Judo paired with Muay Thai or boxing is a safe combo.

The problem with BJJ is that street fights are unpredictable. You don't want to be rolling around with someone on the ground when their friends are lurking about.

Wrestling and Judo are broadly better grappling styles for self defense (imo) the problem is that Wrestling is so tough that very few adults outside of pro mma fighters are willing to put in the hours to learn it. Judo is big in Europe but has no motion in the U.S like that.

I don’t have a problem with BJJ because submissions changed the game for combat sports. But being real the only tools you are likely to use are guillotine or rear naked choke in a self defense scenario. Going to the ground intentionally in a self defense scenario is retarded unless you know FOR SURE you are dealing with one attacker.

You are even seeing this know with Jiu jitsu specialists getting phased out of MMA. Kron Gracie and Ryan Hall are meme status now. Nobody is shook if your a black belt anymore.

Benefits

Takedown resistance
Takedown ability
Defense after being taken down
Ability to cripple someone off your back
Ability to choke someone off your back
Ability to knock down an opponent who is standing over you, off your back
Ability to control someone who is on the ground
Good clinch fighting
Ability to choke people standing up from behind or in a front headlock

Downside

It's not a striking art so you will get pieced up if you don't know how to throw punches

If you get jumped you may get hurt

Advice

Run away
Cross train
Force multiplier
🔪 + pepper spray + BJJ makes everything ok
🔫 + BJJ makes everything ok
Focus on jabs, leg kicks, knees inside, forearms inside clinch, taking the back and choking techniques.
Don't fight

Try to take a gun or a knife from a BJJ black belt :mjlol:
