The MP says she apologises "for any anguish caused" and wishes to "unreservedly" withdraw her remarks.

I notice they kicked her out, but Boris, Suella etc. are still in Parliament even with their history of racism...

They've been coming for Diane Abbott forever. I'm American, but I remember all the fuss over her drinking a cheap canned alcoholic drink on the tube. That got as much press as Boris throwing lockdown parties.

Starmer has been dismissive of black issues, too, as far as I can tell. Correct me if I'm wrong since I only read and watch from the outside. I don't like him.

You aren't wrong. Nothing Dianne Abbott said was wrong either. She and Jeremy Corbin are close, and she was very critical of them not letting him run under the labour banner again.
They were looking for a chance at payback.

I was going to say, if you're black and Welsh or English, that's the only party that actually is vocal about supporting the rights of black citizens in Britain. Four years ago, I would have said that it depended on which constituency I voted in, but now, I'd be feeling like I'm voting Green even if that potentially costs Labour my district. That's how overtly racist Starmer is.

And as for Abbott's letter, I read it on the Guardian's website. When all the people calling it anti-Semitic can show me the Jewish people who had to sit at the back of the bus in America or the Jewish people who were forced into Bantustans, I'll concede that it's anti-Semitic. Somehow, I don't think that's going to happen.

I saw earlier on the news they interviewed a Jewish woman, maybe an MP who said that her comments weren't anti-semitic. They've turned that word into a broad brush

I'm surprised. Diane Abbott is my MP. Her constituents include the largest Jewish Community in the UK

Reading the letter, nothing she said was wrong. But lets see what happens.

We got one in the US but she's not as openly racist, Nikki Haley. Changed her name to sound more white, tries hard to look white, married a white man, republican. She's like Rishi if he changed his name to Ricky and married a white woman

Not an expert on UK politics, but Suella seems more Clarence Thomas than Nikki Haley.
