True, but Syrias position in that region has taken a definite hit. Assad lasted, but the country he is gonna rule over doesn’t have the influence it once had. Russia will survive, Putin might even stay in power, but the damage to its reputation and standing has been definitely hit. People talk about all those billions spent, the people in Washington got a discount from their pov. They reduced one of the biggest counters to global American power. Tied up russias military, got to work on more sanctions, and shored up more influence in Europe, all at a cost lower than they would have thought possible. It doesn’t even matter if Ukraine loses at this point, the damage dealt to Russia has been monumental.
I’d also like to clarify I don’t fukk with that whole situation, but you can’t deny that’s Russias been squeezed into a tight corner.
