I'm an umar supporter because his arguments and beliefs stretch much further than that of a school

however if he is just walking through a school for optics, i'm gonna have to fall back on the support

Franchise model actually lowers the cost of private school, plus when you remove unneccessary admin fees and you move higher education into the same package where it can be self contained all black pro black, you can create a education infrastructure that is cheap, and high quality, K - Undergrad

The franchise model he uses has quite a few caveats you're missing out on:

Thales schools also have no auditoriums because they're too expensive to build, heat, and cool.

Another savings is on personnel. There's no cafeteria, and thus no cafeteria staff. There are no school buses, and thus no school bus drivers. There's also hardly any support staff, and fewer actual teachers. Thales targets a teacher to student ratio of about 26 to one, compared to one teacher for every 15 kids in North Carolina's traditional public schools.

Less teachers, less facilities, less space, less administration, and it still gets a multi-million dollar loan from the Luddy guy when its opened.

He also excludes kids with any kind of disability.
This model is the exact opposite of what is needed for Black students in the US.

The thing about Catholic schools is that they are already up and running, with generally fairly large alumni bases.

There is a reason a large majority of private schools in the U.S. are religious based, it's because they are funded by the Church, who are funded by the people through tithing, and since this school is not affiliated with a religion that is a disadvantage.

Because he does not want public funding this school will have to find a way to get money besides donations.
But if you look at the entire video Dr. Umar speaks about opening a farm and stuff, so he may have some plans up his sleeve.


Regardless I'm supporting the dream..cause even if the nikka fail, the man tried....and that's enough to gain my respect for life.

In fact, its likely.
But do you honestly think there are enough Black parents with the income to send their kids to that school, close to that school?

He's not opening this up in PG County, or Baldwin Hills, or Atlanta or Chicago.
With a small student population you have to greatly increase the tuition. So its either further exclude Black students (for a comparison, the Barrie School in Silver Springs is about $33k/year for 313 students), get a continual stream of large donations, or become a charter/specialised private school.

Two Black schools already in existence.
Please don’t “holier than thou me,” I continually do real-work for the Black community even as a law student.

those kids are going to rely on random donations to not have to repeat a grade if their school is bankrupt....
