SOMETHIN REAL FO YO ASS IN THESE HANDS!!!!
is CCNA lucrative?

im thinking of doin that :lupe:
relatively; see, I'm the guy that dropped out of OU, worked in customer service for a loooong time, eventually moved into tech support, and finally got an actual IT role.

I've been in this role for going on 5 years, so I know I'm at the top of the pay range, for where I live, the job, and the fact I have no degree.
Also, I'm in the healthcare industry which also leads to inflated salaries, in comparison with baseline salaries for a given role in other industries

It wasn't until 2 years ago I got my CCNA, and where I work, there is NO room for additional responsibility or opportunity; we already either do it all, or outsource support to vendors
When I got certed, they increased my salary more as a function of retention, because they like the work I do, in the role I have now.

There are TONS of opportunities out there to transition into networking-only positions, but in my scenario, I have to be patient, because most of those opportunities would result in me (at least initially) taking a hit in salary....
That's not something I'm willing to do, since i don't hate my job now, and I've already adjusted my expectations.

I am now fine with a lateral move, as long as the benefits are similar, and the starting pay is not the ceiling.

If I was a kid just figuring out my life, a CCNA would be a gamechanger... You can't beat the cost of investment-to-potential earning income ratio

I did CCNA courses on nights and weekends for about a year and a half, with a full-time job (that was undergoing major changes and issues), married, with a 4 year old at home, so it's possible.

Good looks on this. I work in IT & I've always wanted to code but never had the time or patience. I'm starting this right now & it seems solid. :salute:
