It's true in a sense that they won't lead to convictions, but at the very least they HAVE to get the ball rolling to prove the point.
Thomas/Alito can't be convicted of anything in criminal court because the case goes back to them in the end, and they and the other right-wingers will just absolve themselves. So their stated solution is, "Well, cases against us have to be handled by Congress." But a partisan Congress will refuse to handle them. So by demonstrating that it is impossible for a case against a Supreme Court Justice to go forward in a partisan Congress, AOC and the Senate Democrats are pointing out how the current court setup is literally above the law.
And same goes for the president, considering the recent Supreme Court decision along with the DOJ refusals.
