I'm not saying I don't buy that... but I'm saying that Taker has always came off as similar to Funk, in the "He'll probably never really retire unless he gets INJURED injured" way of things.
Plus as mentioned, Taker protected his image and kayfabe with the character for nearly 30 years. He could leverage that to all sorts of shyt from comics, to a podcast, to anything really that could bring in a lot of cash.
