:russ: Her album sold 1 million because amazon sold it for 99 cents the first two days of release. Without that she would have only sold a little over 500k 1st week.
A little over 500k is still about 500k more than what her first album did :what:.

And that logic is not reasonable, she would've done a lot more than 500k if amazon wasn't selling it. Cause some (or a lot) of those people who rushed to amazon to buy it would've probably bought it through official channels if the amazon deal didn't exist. It's pretty reasonable to assume that it was her crazy teenage fans that got their moms to register at amazon to be able to purchase it.

No its not, making a profit is what matters. You can make a profit without selling out the music, at least in a major way. A lot of artist put out cheap shyt, and hype it up to sell. You can tell it was cheap shyt because no one is even mentioning most of his shyt now. Its not like he didn't have the talent, be just was greedy.
you serious with this? :what:

who doesn't like those old murder inc records?

Well obviously and the whole point of the post was that even with the drop off, her album kept selling and went double platinum.

It sold twice as much as it first sold, which is common in any genre.
In fact I can't name an artist who hasn't done that after years, specially not with that interscope money reaching as far as money can take you.

Also she sold 660k in normal stores and 440 on amazon, unless you meant that 160 is "a little over".

they shoulda let Irv run Def Jam, you may think he's a clown or a bird and all this but you can see that his love for hip hop music and culture is genuine as hell, plus he knows the business thoroughly

Didn't they just restructure, sign all the hot acts out of Chicago and give Don Cannon a position?
