The governor criticized them too and some cac thinks they should be dumped in the ocean for simply kneeling.

It won't happen, but these dudes shouldn't even be playing because the majority of people in that state feel the same way.

LINCOLN — A national conversation on race and police violence started by an NFL quarterback last month continued Monday with three members of the Nebraska football team and a high-profile critic, Gov. Pete Ricketts.

Huskers Michael Rose-Ivey, DaiShon Neal and Mohamed Barry said they knelt during the national anthem before Saturday’s Northwestern game in a show of “solidarity” with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who began kneeling in August during the anthem to protest what he believes are wrongdoings, including police violence, against African-Americans and minorities.

“We felt it was our duty to step up and join the chorus of athletes in the NFL, WNBA, college and high school using their platforms to highlight these issues,” Rose-Ivey said as part of a statement that he read to the media at Memorial Stadium.

During his monthly live call-in radio show, Ricketts called the players’ decision to kneel “disgraceful and disrespectful,” while also upholding their right to protest.

“Generations of men and women have died to give them that right to protest,” the governor said. “I think the way they chose to protest was disgraceful and disrespectful.”

Ricketts was answering a comment from a North Platte caller who said Nebraska officials should put the three players on a ship and “dump them in the ocean.”

The governor did not respond directly to that comment, but he said later that he condemns any violent threats or language lodged toward the players.

“We’d never want to tolerate that,” he said.

You bugging chief. Who is going to pay their salary. You think NC A&T got the money to pay for topflight nutritionist and coaches? Build world class facilities?

Hell head coaches at that level probably only make about 60-70k a year. Randy Shannon makes $400k as a linebackers coach for Florida.

They don't have the money to compete in football, no matter whose there at a high enough level.

You make some great points brotha. But just a bit of clarity. HBCU coaches on avg are paid more than that. A study done in 2007 showed that HBCU coaches were paid an avg of 130K a year. With the head coach at Grambling making 200k (the highest salaries at HBCUs).

Today that avg is higher not sure by how much. For example the head coach at Jackson state made around 191k in 2007. Now in 2016 the head coach at Jackson state makes 240k a year.

Also I want to mention that the majority of the college football teams are losing money (except the large powerful schools).

The dirty secret is that the students normally pays around 60% of the budget for football. The football teams at these schools (especially the white ones) are just bragging rights and toys for the boosters. The boosters use bowl games as a war chest to spend money and party like Rock stars. This was pointed out a few years ago and even recently showing how boosters at the tostito bowl basically blew all the bowl money on extravagant shyt (from strippers to 5 star hotels and limos).

The difference between the HBCUs and white schools is the shear number of money. The white schools and black schools are both in the red. But the white schools are supported financially by the town they are in, by the state government with grants, by wealthy alumni, by corporations, tv networks (by way of huge contracts)and by students. So the white schools even though their athlete program is losing money (from miss management) you don't see a dent because so much money is being thrown at the program and into the school.

This shyt is similar to the US. How even in a good economy we still have a huge debt to folks like China. But we don't see any effects of it because so many folks are willing to invest in this country from abroad. Even in 2008 when the economy crashed here in the US, China loaned us money.

Hope the whole team kneel. They shouldn't want to even play for this school after this. :scust:

Don't know how good this team is but I hope top athletes refuse to go and the entire program dies. They'll change their stance on the protest then I'll bet.
