I mean I get it. That’s just old school gentlemen shyt. Women wear hats inside, men don’t. You didn’t go to church growing up??Man this is facts. A lot of them tend to be arrogant and get off on power and they perceived important status. It was this one professorI had for Sociology. I came in one time with a hat and he asked me to remove
It. I wasn’t even tripping till I saw a girl in the class had a hat on. I said is that a rule you have cause other people have on hats? He said yes the women in my class can wear hats. I said why is it that women can but men can’t? He said because I’m old school. I was like breh
So I ended up leaving cause I was standing my groundSo I’m talking to another professor about it and he gonna tell me, I just have to choose my battles. I was like naw fukk that, dude is here to teach sociology, not instill his personal beliefs on people. Mothafukka that’s discrimination based on gender and possibly race, don’t play with me
But the craziest part about the story is, that professor was there for a long time and highly respected. And it was after I left, but dude actually ended up getting fired. Turns out his credentials and his degree wasn’t real
Lmao nikka got fired for that shyt.
If you google him it’s endless Reddit threads complaining about him treating the students like shyt.
If tenured, he can’t be fired, but the student should go to the chair of the department and the dean of the college. I legit don’t think he can do this.
Edit: He was removed from the course, and the student got accommodations from the university.
At my uni, they have made it damn near impossible for fail students without offering accommodations and extensions.
The professor had the right to be stern and shyt. But he was doing to much. Especially with that last comment. I would have been like fail me then bytch ass nikka since you wanna talk slick. Then I would have had to take the class over again
And when I say I would have said that I’m only half way joking. I truly might have sent that email. I actually got into it with one of my professors when I was taking college classes and they ended up separating us and took me out the class and had another teacher teach only me by myself for the rest of the semester
I had a professor damn near hold up my graduation. This was my final three credits. We had a 20 page paper due at the last class. I turned mine in and he was saying he couldn't accept it because I had to turn in a rough draft first. I told him I'm a good writer and don't need two tries. He reluctantly took it but said some slick shyt implying he may or may not get to it. A few weeks went by and I wasn't getting any email responses about my grade. I was ready to take it to the dean but I saw him on the street and pressed him. The grade was miraculously turned in the next day

Yeah he was removed from the course. Still collecting cheques though. It was decently sized story here. That school is known for the worst antics too...
Profs are paid for researching and guiding other research. Teaching is less important. If you fall behind in research, you can get called in for performance reviews, etc. If the student don’t rate your course, they shrug it off.
You didn't go to college? People show up to 7:30am classes in pajamas.
College isn't church. If you're in class with jeans and a t shirt a hat is fine.

But I always tell people that college to me more about learning about people and shyt more than the actual book shyt. But I had a rough time cause of a lot of battles like that. I stayed getting into it with professors, they banned me from online classes at one point
But I learned the pros and cons of challenging authority like that. That’s just how I naturally am. But I’m seeing ok, you do this, you might have to deal with this. Or you say this, you might have to deal with that.I learned it’s not always about what’s “right” so even though you may be think you right on some shyt, it won’t go your way all the time. But I’m the type of person to be like fukk it, I gotta say something.
Like the time I had this class and we had to by the textbook and another book along with it. Well come to find out, that other book was written by the professor. I was like oh hell naw, this some fukk shyt. fukk this nikka book, he just using his position to run up sales. So I said something bout that shyt to the deans office. Everyone else was like yeah that’s fukked up but they ain’t say shyt. Man fukk that.
Teaching is a side hustle and stop gap in their careers. Once you have the PhD the world is yours. Have professors openly talking about SpaceX collaborations and nanotechnology research
