Calling a GM a thief is low key one of the greatest accidental compliments you can give.

It's a pretty direct compliment.

Ainge has made a habit of trading with teams who are in win now mode and it is no surprise that those deals are not good for the future of the teams involved.

Cleveland is a contender as long as LeBron is there and they're finished once he's gone. They have to go all in every year.

If they kept Kyrie, he's hurt and can't help anyway. If they trade him for IT, PG, etc, they have a chance to win and keep that player but if they lose, it's expected that both LeBron and the new guy bounce.

Cavs got the Leftover a 2018 8th Overall Pick...

Last 8th Overall picked that Made the All Star Vin Baker 1993 and Detlef Schrempf 1985.

We’re looking at this trade through the lens of rn though. Gilbert wanted something to build off of post Lebron. Gilbert hates bron, hates that he’s one of the only players that has leverage on an owner like that. He got his title, he knew that there wasn’t anything out there he could get for Kyrie that would let Cleveland Be competitive with GS. Trade was about the nets pick. IT was a plus in that he was gonna be a guy that he could pay to stay if he wanted.

Trade backfired a bit on him too of course. Nets pick isn’t the asset we thought it would be. And IT gave them nothing. And they might not be able to get back to the finals like I’m sure he thought they’d be able to. But the Cavs have consistently hedged their bets since last season. IT and the nets pick over getting PG, the young players they went after at the deadline over Deandre Jordan.
