my credit score is like 830 right now, but I've missed medical debts by accident over the years, and if it were to pop up on my credit report, I simply wouldn't care TBH. I don't even need credit anymore so they can suck my balls.

im 815, creeping on the come up

Im curious.

Would you accept a tax increase in order to reduce the cost of ambulances?

When I was growing up I remember a lot more ambulances belonging to the county. These days, they all seem to be private companies. I'm sure each of them is trying to get their little profit on each ride. It seems like this is a service that shouldn't be privatized at all, to eliminate the profit incentive.

Just off of some napkin math, it should be about 1.5 m to run and staff a single ambulance 365/24/7, not including liability insurance. At that $2000 per ride rate, they would only need to deal with two emergencies a day to make that amount. And we all know they have a lot more cases than that, so I smell a profit incentive for your high charges
That's the issue, them being private and I had no choice in the provider- it also was not "urgent" but the currently available transport I had to a center that could care for my ailment at the time. I wouldn't mind a modest tax in Texas actually, they basically get their money on the "back end" through high service fees (tolls, etc). My job's plans aren't the best but I pay A LOT in medical expenses, mainly my child on top of a big premium. There's always something that just looking at a doc costs a few hundred OOP.
