NXT doesn't work as a third brand. When it was used as a Developmental/feeder system for Raw and Smackdown, it was better all around. Its original charm was in people finding their character and their stories. Even in the peak 2014-2015 days, it wasn't treated as the end goal.

Don’t think this should be an unpopular opinion honestly. But also what’s taking away from NXT (and wrestling in general) are no real crowds.
I watched that Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker match at WrestleMania 25 match recently. I think it’s overrated for the sheer fact from a ring psychology/kayfabe standpoint HBK kicking out of three finishers was 
. Tbh, I don’t even think it’s better than the Badd Blood HIAC match. Now, Michaels got more offense in and it was more even in that respect. But I love the story of HBK in no man’s land trapped in a cage with the Undertaker and trying his hardest to survive in that environment. It’s a very good match, I just don’t believe it’s the GOAT category like some believe it to be.

The clear decline started before AEW was even announced. It really does start with Dusty's death. He was the glue holding it all together on all levels on and off screen.
Meltzer being fed bullshyt about NXT trying to destroy AEW has tarnished the reputation of NXT. It was already falling off. HHH is notoriously bad at booking babyface characters. He does have his moments of not getting it with characters that get over unexpectedly.
