I heard they actually cleared the sample.

Thing is, this is from the unreleased original GKMC (2009/2011), which is imo better than the version we got (2012) from the few songs I heard, but Dr Dre wanted Kendrick to make brand new songs to make the album sound "fresh" and "new". He told Kendrick the same shyt he told Eminem: your voice gotta be different every 2-3 years. Dre thought Kendrick sounded too much like OD/s80 kendrick on it and told him to re-perform the songs. Instead, kendrick went on to write and record completely different tracks.
