I liked Tennesee and everyday people. Mr Wendell was motherfukkin' cheeks. Listen to that corny beat again. And speech was trash.

That was a really bad album. Shockingly bad. But ATL is just not a pool for great rap.

I think Outkast, Ludacris, TI, Young Jeezy and Goodie Mobb would disagree with that.

My Pops Forever RIP
this came on already? damn. Hopefully I can catch this when they do those unsung marathons where they show how Atlantic Starr fell apart for the 68485th time.

I've seen that episode. The only question I want to ask is why does TV-One feel the need to run the gangsta rap excuse into the ground whenever a rapper falls off? That shyt is tired.

 @ NWA and 2Pac being the reasons why every group fell apart. Big Daddy Kane, Kool Moe Dee, Full Force, the Marvelettes, Sly and the Family Stone. Gangsta rap pretty much ruined black music according to TV-One

They do the same thing with the New Jack Swing period when they cover r&b artists from the 80's they blame new jack swing/teddy riley for them falling off.

300 murders a year
real talk, why cant it just be these people really started to suck and nobody was buying they terrible music.

cause gangsta rap never hurt acts like michael jackson, anita baker, luther vandross, prince, sade, whitney houston, janet jackson, etc who survived the 80's transition from pop/rock in heavy rotation to gangsta rap coming around 88 and dominating there on.

when you talented the people will respond. its the same as today trap music is dominating the air waves but that aint stopping artist like nas, jay z, kanye west etc from getting they shine on in this era.

Half of the Unsung audience doesn't want to admit that a lot of those artists fell off due to changing times and changing tastes. If you look at today's musical climate, it is every bit as hard trying to sell a lot of those artists now as it was trying to sell Freddie Jackson and Alexander O'Neal in the 90s. But at least Alex had one more hit album in him with All True Man in 1991, while Freddie's sound was too outdated to compete in the NJS era.

They were already writing and producing when they first came out, but I get your point.

They already had something to fall back on, once their recording careers were on ice. A lot of other artists that were profiled didn't.

Arrested Development always came off as self-righteous as fukk, btw.

Of course they did, to you, and that's what the mindset of folks (including the other ones who think they were too cheesy or whatnot) who think that "oh they think they're too this or that, so "elitist," trying to be above the rest of us nikkazz". No they thought they wanted to become something else other than "bytch, ho, riding in my 'lac, if you like cops, or any white person (hell a Republican on top of that) :bryan: than you're an uncle Tom", no they were just nostalgic but trying to reach a little closer to the mother land for guidance and leadership, not what was popular or on tv at that moment.
