I work in IT, and it's insane how many "Cybersecurity professionals" in this field are crying over Chinese spyware being banned. TikTok literally farms your data on your device and sends it straight to the CCP.

This isn't the same as Facebook, Google, or Apple taking your data and selling it for advertisement purposes. China will force user data to be handed to them from companies without a subpoena. But fukk it; I guess the TikTok shop is more important than foreign adversaries farming data and using it to influence our population.

Acting like we all havent been getting scam texts from some pasty ass asians for the last few years.

Tiktok is the least of our problems when it comes to cyber security

I wonder what the play will be when Tik Tok is restored once Trump is in office. Yes, he will claimed he saved Tik Tok. But wasn't the whole point was that the app is a danger to national security because the Chinese are stealing our data? Tik Tok isn't sold, remains in the hands of the originators, and Trump and his Republican backing will say "we were wrong about Tik Tok"? Does the law simply get repealed and all of congress agree to repeal it, spitting in the face of the intelligence community and the NSA? Or will Trump make some bullshyt statement like "President Xi assured me that they are not stealing American data on Tik Tok." Like that is supposed to make it ok.

what was your friends end goal? did they plan on doing tik tok forever? it would eventually become over saturated with everyone trying to be content creators and the payout would be exponentially less. there's absolutely no chance whatsoever that the model would continue the way it is.

This "going back to the 90s" speak and calling people "old heads" is just a way to deflect. Logically speaking it is a non sequitur...just because someone proposes to remove something that was created post 90s does not mean they want to return life back to the 90s.

Use your brain, ask questions, it's easy to reduce and diminish the opponents of your position rather than hearing them out. If you truly have the high ground defending your position will only strengthen it not weaken it. If it weakens it maybe time to reconsider your stance and do more research no?

TikTok came through and took marketshare from Meta and other platforms and the ADL decided it had to go when they saw how much pro-Palestine content there was. And that's not even conspiracy shyt, we have audio of the head of the ADL saying why TikTok became a problem.

170 million Americans used that app, this shyt is wildly unpopular but Coli users weirdly pride themselves on being woefully out of touch with what's going on in the world.

and an app going away is not that important, but Americans aren't serious people.
