my guess is she was raped in the shower as a child. shyt is messed up for real and dude is a stand up guy for making her get help.

She was probably raped or molested. A lot of people who were molested as children developed poor hygiene as a coping mechanism and/or because they hoped by being dirty or smelly, whoever was abusing them would be put off by the smell and leave them alone (which sometimes worked). That or bath times are when they were molested in the past. It carries over into adulthood in some cases where they pretty much develop a phobia of showering/bathing.
