nikka, Katy Perry doesn't sell and Drake sells higher than JB. Again this notion that pop sells is a cock of shyt and so it doesn't surprise me that it's being repeated around these parts. Pop artists are only doing 120K first week if they're lucky.

And according to the industry, TS last album was the best one out, better than Kendrick's. :heh:

The music industry is first and foremost a business; a fact that you dusty nikkas can't wrap your head around.

And side note, Drake has been "culturally relevant" for 7 years (and counting) now. Pop stars are usually gone within 2 years and rap stars 5. :dame:
You didn't answer my questions Ms Elaine. Does Drake sell because he is a groundbreaking rap artist who creates timeless, classic albums or because he is popular? Why is it that the constant criticism that Drake gets is that he is mediocre and doesn't live up to the hype, yet all his projects sell well? Can you also please post some examples of the music he creates that is so exceptional and amazing that made him culturally relavant for 7 years? 7 years though, what an accomplishment that his own unique sound was popular for 7 years...oh wait, his sound has changed every year because he's a habitual wave rider :dame:

So a song gotta hit #1 before its considered popular? The top #2 -- #50 songs in America that represents airplay, streams, sales aint relevant? Damn. who knew. I wonder what metric thecoli will make up next to decide whats hot.

And until hip hop media is made up of more brothas than white boys I cant give a damn about a metacritic. real talk

I didn't bring up acclaim, he did. So I'm :mjlol:at one dude mentioning acclaim, then cats get upset with me for mentioning Metacritic.

Drake don't write his own raps. Half the songs on his newest album don't have raps. His biggest songs aren't rap songs.

So why in the fukk would a rap message board bother themselves with how much he's selling? You really think core rap fans are combing Billboard to see what Drake song is #68?

Lastly, if we're talking about race....who do you think made him #1 four weeks in a row? I guess this is the part where somebody says "bu bu but black people love Drake!"....ok, but white people are the ones making him sell insane amounts. Same as any artist in the history of music, unless people wanna play dumb and act like that's not the case.

So I'm :what:at "nah, too many white boys on Metacritic", but Billboard placement is valid. Who do you think gave him that placement....solely or mostly black people? There's no way you're that naive.

I really dont understand the people that get so excited about what a rapper is or isnt selling. I could see if it was an underdog story or an a$$hole flopping but how does Drake selling millions benefit you in any way?

That said, the people(if they even exist) that claim Drake was irrelevant and falling off are a bit out of touch with reality as well

Stupid millennials nutting over charts in an era where streams are counted, and "artists" get a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a cent per stream. Back in the day, when there was footage of lil cracker children going crazy over your new album, that meant your ass had fell the fukk off.

Not to mention this has to be the worst fukking era of rap since fools was performing in sequinned tube tops and cowboy hats in the early 80's. A nikka literally has to succumb to cough syrup addiction/accidentally shoot his own bodyguard on camera to fail in the eyes of today's idiotic fans.

So what you saying is....White people made Panda #1? White people are listening to Kevin Gates, Fetty Wap, etc.? White people are buying Beyonce's album in massive numbers?

Black people can't impact Billboard?
