This doesn’t matter. Flops are relative.

Kendrick himself complained about his Los Angeles sales on Twitter and deleted it. These are facts.

He’s a huge artist you really surprised he debut at number one and had a good first week and sold Platinum eventually?

It was his sophomore album and Future and Drake ran the rap discourse that year.

No top 40 singles. They tried to push i down our throats even made it official NBA song and it still flopped.

The album was mostly lauded by cac academia brehs didn’t care for this album. All facts.

It’s why he came with a commercialized album on his next attempt and the shytty Humble single somehow debut at number one upon drop.

“Flops are relative”

An album that went plat and is as well regarded/celebrated as TPAB isn’t a flop fam. It expanded his sound, introduced him to new audiences, and literally revived jazz as a music genre. The impact is undeniable at this point. It’s the type of album that opens up doors for artists, not just Kendrick but his collaborators (Thundercat, Kamasi Washington, Terrace Martin, etc all gained popularity and get festival dates off the association alone).

We talking about hip-hop not in jazz and it sounds like hyperbole all those people was already successful before the album. I heard 3 Chord Fold in 2012.

Kendrick is the one that complained about his LA album sales not me :hubie:

“i” was an undeniable flop especially for as much was behind it lead single of his sophomore LP and official song of the NBA and all that to not even reach top 40, it’s clear he was going for a Pharrell “Happy” type smash.

U think Kendrick isn’t going to go Plat? And I don’t give a fukk about white liberal academia and publications that constantly slob Kendrick’s work. I actually like the album its good but it’s not G.O.A.T., 100 MetaCritic status.

Facts.

I feel like a lot people on here like to hate on Kendrick just to be contrarians. You can not like him but nikkas go out they way to downplay his success like the rest of us are dumb because we’re fans of his shyt.
