I laughed thinking this dude was playing but 
Had I known that I would've kept my PS4 and sold my PS3 and THEN go to Japan. but I digress..I just went to try it on my cousins PS3 and sure enough it upgraded. What's even more peculiar is that since some games are designed for PS4, running it on an upgraded PS3 makes the framerate smoother since the game is locked at 720P. I played Killzone Shadowfall and my god the MP was 60fps locked
I'm gonna go upgrade to a 4K TV right after. Subbed.

I read a ton of comments on this video, and alot of the serious comments indicates that this really works with a few glitches. System is locked at 30fps so you can notice it's not as smooth for some games. You may need to buy a PS4 controller because you're missing the touchpad.

Brehs if you want a PS4 controller as well make sure when you do this that you have your PS3 controlled hooked up via USB to your PS3. I cant believe this shyt actually works.

It...actually works. Wow. Literally took 2 minutes with my Last of Us PS4 disc. Only thing I've noticed is that the trackpad on Dualshock 4 doesn't work but that's not really needed anyway, and Blu Ray movies are just a tad stuttery, but games are actually fine.
