This hoopla is because everyone hates him for some strange reason.
But he only fired Smith after it became a story with her coming out.
As far as lying to the media, I don't care about that shyt. fukk them.
The real problem IMO is him keeping Smith on staff after MULTIPLE DV incidents. He got a pass the first time, but after the 2nd one, that should have been curtains. And that was 3 years ago. That's the real story and reason he was looking at getting canned IMO. The lying to the media thing is

Texas A&M has a clause now that they can fire coaches for mishandling domestic violence cases, no good reason to keep to Smith on the staff other than Urban wanting to ride so hard for Zach because he was Earle Bruce's grandson so he decided to report it and then act like his hands were clean, basically a good ol boy network type deal.

The only reason that I could see Urban keeping him on staff is because of the well known threat. (The one where Zack said that if he were ever fired, he'd take Urb and Ohio State both down with all he knew.)
