Yea it’s fukked its fukked up but it’s apart of war. The militants purposely expose civilians to get shot at for the news can be against the Americans. They will shoots mortars from school yards and civilians areas knowing that the US will most likely not strike back and if they do strike back they will get shyt on my western media. It’s called human shields tactic. The terrorist purposely put their own people in danger just for the US to make hard decisions with strikes.

Somalia is a war torn shythole with no real army....so they got other neighboring countries doing their dirty work. So we there basically helping Kenya and Ethiopia. Because that’s who benefits the most.

African Union is getting $400M per year from US/EU. Uganda has benefitted handsomely. Burundi has troops. Djibouti has troops too (they’re ethnically Somali so they blend in).

The issue is, the government is incompetent and corrupt. And they aren’t paying soldiers enough. There’s also no trust of the international donors to fund training of Somali army in mass numbers cause of corruption.

But the only way to defeat Al Shabab is a well trained, well equipped And well paid Somali National Army.

Turkey has helped. But the US can be more constructive with a robust training regimen.

I don’t mind China and Russia getting involved either due to historical ties:

All facts and well said. I just hate when people try to point blame on every other country and nation. It’s benfits nobody to have an unstable Somalia. All these other countries around it seem to be doing pretty good. Somalia has a lot of internal problems it has to fix. It’s no conspiracy to keep Somalia down.

The civil war and the clan rivalries are huge handicaps. There’s no political unity and there’s no grand vision.

On a civil society level though, it’s much more dynamic in Mogadishu. There’s a lot going on and despite the Shabaab attacks there’s a lot more political freedom than the north. Somaliland has their dogmatic vision of getting international recognition as a separate state but civil society isn’t as active there despite it being more peaceful. There’s also not as much money flowing as it’s monopolized even more in the north compared to Mogadishu.
