This actually shows an example of why Israel is so important to the US. I don't care for the Israelis and I think most American leadership doesn't, but Israel provides them a staging ground in the middle east to do whatever they need to do. Israel is the US presence in a pivotal region. For that reason alone, we have to support them and prop them up. And yes the US will go to war to keep that middle east presence because it's that important. For US leadership, it's that simple.
