Regarding the women's team, the way I see it I think for basketball reasons leaving Clark and Reese off the team is understandable. However, remember Christian Laettner was on the Dream Team and in contrast these two actually have got time in the league. I think it would've been great for them overall. That said, the women's basketball team also isn't getting much coverage. I have a feeling people will tune into the gold medal game out of spite ("Oh, let's see how these women are doing without CC!") and because it'll be talked about and focused on more.

I live in an area where the standard sports fan would say “I don’t really watch the NBA anymore - I used to back when it was Jordan, but now I really not watch college. I much prefer hockey…”.

But I was at the gym early yesterday morning, dudes were talking about USA vs Serbia, medal outlook, etc on the gym floor and the locker room, People are watching. I think any semifinal or final vs a team where people know there are NBA stars will get big ratings. USA vs France or Canada in the finals would do big numbers

How is the olympics going to help with that though? They have a pre-determined prize for medals that is same for all olympians. The women literally make the same amount of money as the men in the Olympics, if their goal in competition was to fix lower pay. mission accomplished. in this particular field of competition. I

Why would Reese and Clark have to play zero minutes? The USA women beat down most opponents by 20+ every game. They can afford to play everyone.

You ask that question after the USA Men’s team just beat Serbia by 26 and Jayson Tatum played zero minutes.
