I just don't buy your idea that this is somehow based on numbers or percentages. What's the cutoff, where's the data showing percent of people you claim have economic access and strength of the country. Do more people have economic access in Mexico than in Colombia. I doubt it....

the data is in the history of the country, latin america has a history of weak property rights and weak economic rights, even for "white" people

mexico and columbia are the same difference

But Brazil has a larger GDP than India and Russia. How can it possibly be a "Latin" issue.

did i miss something? i thought we were comparing the US to latin america

do you want to switch topics and discuss the BRIC countries?
Clearly the discussion is evolving. To me we were discussing why capitalist countries vary in success.

yeah and i said, or i cosigned the school of thought that says it has to do with the level of economic freedom ( property rights, access to banks and credit) of the regular citizen

im saying that explains the disparity between the US and latin america

now the difference betwee mexico and columbia or brazil and india is a little different and more complicated, but overall the more economic freedom the individual citizen has the more prosperous the country is

Yeah but where do you get your numbers from.... How do you assign or evaluate level of economic freedom? What's the break down? When I see theories I don't dismiss or accept them until I test them out. I'm wondering perhaps since you firmly believe this that there is some data to back it up. Not just a blanket statement about how backward Latin America is.
