1.) Sure, but why does he deserve the benefit of the doubt to assume he changed for the better? Maybe his views/jokes got more extreme?
You're speculating. You don't really know this.
If Usher says he tried to educate and mentor the young man, then why do you think its impossible for him to change?
Thats the entire point of even talking about this stuff, right?
If you're not trying to eliminate racism and bigotry through education and awareness then you're wasiting your time.
2.) I think somebody who is culturally groomed by family or surroundings to hate people of a certain race and grow up and educate themselves that it's wrong, but I don't think that profile fits who Bieber is or his upbringing.
Bieber at 15 came otu of the backwoods of canada and was thrust into a world where clearly he couldnt harbor those views anymore...not openly at least.
I think the kid learned SOMETHING. You seem to think thats not possible.
3.) I don't, do you? And if not, why do you think he deserves the benefit of the doubt now? I don't know what he thinks now, but I know he's on videotape making a joke out of "killing ******s" and that's enough for me to draw my own conclusions.
He's on tape saying something stupid 5 years ago. And as a 15 year old. Its disgusting, but that has no bearing on what I should think of him as a 20 year old.
You gotta understand the type of racist that Bieber is. He's a racist in the same way that Donald Sterling is. He will use black people so long as they can give him something in return (power, money, popularity).
You keep calling him a racist, but you have no indication of IF he is still this way. YOu just want to believe he is so you can retroactively "hate him" for shyt you didn't even know about. Its pathetic on your end.
And Sterling ACKNOWLEDGED he
uses black people Bieber said some insensitive hurtful corny shyt.
Bieber is not someone who I believe hates black people.
same here
He has black friends and obviously spends a lot of time with them, but that doesn't change the fact that behind closed doors he treats them like shyt. Jokes about them, calls them a ******. At the time these videos were filmed he was a popular musician who was already very close with Usher, had black bodyguards, etc. He was surrounded by black people already. And all we have is two videos, what do you think he does when the cameras aren't around?
You don't know that and you're speculating.
Your best evidence is footage of a 14/15 year old saying dumb shyt.
thats like looking at those Westboro Baptist kids saying all that garbage at 12 and 15 then coming back at 20 and 25 assuming they're the same people.
A lot can happen.
I think Nasir Jones best described the type of person I think Bieber is toward black people:
"Talk about me, laugh behind my back but in my face
Sure. At 14 and 15.
