Ding Ding Ding. The problem is not black audiences abandoning stars, it's these stars never growing up with their music. Usher 40 something or close to it trying to go toe to toe with teenagers making turn up anthems.

For perspective, Maxwell did double Usher's numbers first week this year and he was never even nearly as popular. D'Angelo did almost 5x those numbers last year.

The irony of course is that kids don't buy shyt...especially by someone their father's age . The 40 and up crowd is way more likely to actually buy your CD.

Then I kept reading the thread and realized this post has a point...

First of all Maxwell and D'angelo are musicians they write there own shyt and produce there own shyt they give you a brand they give you something that you can only get from them. Usher is an R&B/Pop artist he never really had his own sound and goes with the trends of pop music and has always been.

Contemporary R&B/pop R&B was a lot trendier when 8701 and Confessions was out.

R.kelly laid out the blueprint on how to still be current, but still cater to your original fan base. Usher just needs to find the right producers and writers to make that happen. Basically he just needs to stick with the formula he had for confessions(not content).

I'll never understand the mindset of music fans. It's not just R&B or rap fans, all genres of fans are guilty of this. Why do yall catch such hurt feelings when someone does a song that you do not personally like or is not aimed at you? God forbid it actually becomes a hit. Sittin around crying "he abandoned us" lol. Usher's career shouldn't revolve around making one kind of song for one kind of fan for the rest of his life. If that was all it took to stop being a fan, you were never one to begin with.
