Handicapped, Brain damaged and traumatized should NOT be grouped socially (in context or in practice) with addicts...especially considering:

I cant support that.

Utah chose to solve its homelessness nuisance by ignoring its drug and mental health problems. Thats irresponsible.

How do you solve the drug and mental health problem if the people you are serving don't have a home?

In what ways are they ignoring drug and mental health problems? Utah is getting rid of homeless people and saving money on their bottom line doing it. Neoliberals should be rejoicing.

They certainly aren't following through with Dr. Tsemberi's advice if I read the piece correctly but at least a big part of the problem was solved. Shelter is a very basic human need, and having it can put the mind at ease to focus on more important tasks such as seeking help. They haven't given a complete answer to the problem (newsflash: they never do) but they took a very important step. And in politics that's really all you can expect from'em, a couple of big steps every 50-100 years.

Really...theyve addressed the result instead of any causes. utah prescribled a RICOLA to solve its cough problem instead of seeking a cure for its TUBERCULOSIS.
the true solution is to allow homelessness to inspire the homeless into homeness, this is big gov removing any incentive for productivity, I know the people placed in the program have gone on to get jobs and sustain themselves, but...ignore that and check out this smug tone I take on below, surely I must be right
gov. gonna gov

This is pure government overreach. I am completely disgusted. This is anti freedum and anti individual.

Homeless people need to be on the street begging for $2. It encourages entrepreneurship and pulling themselves up from their bootstraps. First they need to find their own boots though.

However hardworking corporations do deserve billions in subsidies :whoa: they are people after all friends.

Your analogy doesn't work here.

Sometimes homlessness is the route cause of the disease. Homlessness leads to addiction and joblessness.

You get people a stable home, shower, food, training, and they have a much better chance of beating addiction. Leave them on the streets and tell them to stop smoking crack, and they will keep smoking.
