HBK is in my personal top 5 and is your favorite wrestler's favorite wrestler :myman:

OP of that thread was saying Hogan/Austin/Rock/Flair/Savage are the top 5 "faces of wrestling" in history, which I agree with.

Those are the guys most people think of when you say "pro wrestling". No way guys like HBK, Taker, or Hart are on that level though they >>> Rock, Hogan, & Flair IMO

That wasn't just "faces of wrestling " thread :comeon:

Doesn't matter, point is it's funny how actual legends in the business view things compared to smarks

best "in ring performer" is such a vague compliment though. he's the best at what exactly?

reminds me of "best rapper" arguments. one dude might argue that 2pac is the greatest rapper ever but some other dude might argue big pun.

don't get me wrong hbk is fukkin goat status but i think people should be more specific when they hand out certain accolades so that it leaves less room for debate.

It's actually a pretty clear compliment, it means he's the best performer in wrestling history in the ring, and at the end of the day pro wrestling is a performance, it's a work

best at what though? telling a story? engaging the crowd? most variety? performing acrobatic spots? selling his offense? selling his opponent's offense?

these are all different things.

Obviously overall package and performamce, if he wanted to say he was the best at selling, telling a story... He would have specified it. Ric Flair also says Shawn is the best bell to bell

:manny:

fair enough i guess. i mean i won't argue it. shawn is a beast.

i just don't know if there's any one guy in history you could call the best performer unless you're being specific.

In basketball if they say MJ is best ever do you ask them to be specific?

that's an honest question but i don't know if the 2 are comparable. asking who the best "in ring" performer isn't like asking who's the greatest basketball player of all time. i think it would be more like asking who's the best shooter of all time. not basketball as a whole, but something specific to basketball.
