Dude did have control of the car driving in what looks like a hotel entrance. Then, while in line, the car lurches off and almost runs over a dude, then he crashes into a wall. Dude's foot probably slipped on the clutch. Instead of stepping on the clutch and brake, which would have been the smart thing to do, he just steers the car trying to avoid the first car in front of him.
