This is a flop in the making. Who is this marketed to?

If you have a gaming pc you don't need this and you aren't stopping the vast majority of casuals from buying a console from playstation, Nintendo or Xbox brand.
I haven't played many PC games outside of a few in the past 5-10 years, but if these Steam machines can play current games at strong settings for the same price as a PS4, I'm in, particularly if I can access everything from Steam on it.

The messaging on it has been all over the place. I still don't know what we're supposed to expect out of it.

i am very curious about this.
will i be able to access my Steam library from it?
yeah, but there's not much need for it if you already have a PC. you can just install the SteamOS on your PC. they'll probably come up with an easy dual-boot option

it should be interesting to see how dx12 competes with the graphics API Valve is working on

Valve is also coming out with a $50 streaming box called the Steam Link, for those that want to stream their PC to another room

a lot of people will end up owning more than one console, so why not throw a PC in there too? it's all about being a 'living room machine', so it's marketed to those that don't want get a PC because they think it has to be at a desk with a mouse and keyboard

yea, that's nice and all, but it's still about the games...if they dont get games that appeal to people, people arent gonna run and get these over the systems ms, sony, and nin offer...if anything, all these gonna do is replace gaming pc setups people have...this will be a nice alternative for them cause it seems it'll make it easier for them....

What he does is work on data all damn day trying to make sure hit detection boxes are done correctly
He's learning the best ports to use when transfering biometric data from point a to point :camby:

Real gamers would walk into an arcade and find a joystick with a red ball on the end of that muthafukka and they would be considered cool. In this day n age of being PC, nerds think they running shyt.
You probably STILL watch G4TV, thinking that Nerds world slogan was real. Man, let me catch you in the street and I'll strangle you with the cord that is connected to my NES Max. Then for shyts n giggles I would set up a bunch of domino's and Rob the robot would hit the first piece. The last piece would land on a trigger that would blow your fukkin brains out bytch, Greener side hoe :win:
I might join that masterrace :lupe:

If it wasnt full of nerd fakkits :camby:

They're gonna have to overhaul the steam big picture UI if they really want to compete with consoles
well they're constantly tweaking it. but what don't you like about it's current state? (I've barely used it)

Its just clunky and not as streamlined as the console UIs. Even though most stuff can be done with a controller, a kb/mouse is still needed for some tasks. Most annoying thing is when you're browsing the store you can't really go back, you have to close it and start over if you want to go back. I have my PC hooked to a TV and can't bear to use big picture mode.

Console gamers are used to not worrying about library management at all. Steam machines are still computers and most people turn to total idiots in front of a computer. They're really gonna have to nail the streamlined experience of consoles if they want to compete.
