I had met a curator and finally my big break was here and it got dashed because I sent her my entire portfolio and it contained nudity.

Identify as a Black Disabled Heterosexual Artist and was told my art was, "increasingly explicit, offensive and disrespectful". The curator was also the head of African Art and African American Art, and since then has rubbed me wrong because all you see in fine art museums is nudity.

Then to make the matters worse, the curator was following black female artists who literally paint sex acts.

I'm telling you being a straight black man in the art world is tough and you catch hell just for showing your appreciation of the black female physique. I don't sit up and only paint nudity. I paint over shyt as well.

Yeah bro they doing you dirty, and I tend to think dudes on this site are full of shyt when they have gender complaints but your work is not more explicit than anything else you compared it too.

Been a victim of this many times, but it wasn’t with art. You almost gotta be a superhero and do your work quietly then show them who you are when you’re undeniable. I’ve had jobs where I was trying to work my way up and some wench sabotaged me to higher ups cause she didn’t like the fact that my motion didn’t depend on her. I just cannot do Kara Walker. They really tried it too, with the sugar factory exhibit.. Yuck, and I literally grew up in MOMA and the Studio Museum of Art (Harlem) and nem. This was my introduction to her and it turned my stomach, just a whole mockery. Idgaf why she did it.

I had a crush on Kara Walker too smh...that pic of her with the Afro was my screen saver for a long time.

Idgaf what nobody says, when you date outside your race and have mixed race children you cannot be vocal about the issues in your community to the extent she has done visually. If Kara Walker was married to a black man and has black children we would be seeing her work with a different lenses. But it makes you look like she has an slave fetish and probably lets him call her ****** during sex and prolly does bedwenching roleplay.
