Think: Juno + Scooby Doo Mystery Squad + 90s High School = Veronica Mars

Veronica Mars works by herself, with SOME help from her friends. But I wouldn't call them a Squad. If you want Scooby-gang, than i'd heavily recommended "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" & it's spin-off series "Angel".

Also "Veronica Mars" ran from 2004-2007 & makes A LOT of pop culture references to stuff in the 2000's, so I don't understand the 90's High School references.

Because the pop culture references also included a lot from the 90s and 80s. The Breakfast Club, The Outsiders, Heathers, The Simpsons, Full Metal Jacket, Wrath of Khan..hell they touched older decades too. A lot of the references get caught upon repeat viewings,
