Bruh, this is why I can’t take people seriously who are 35+ and recently decided to cancel him a couple years ago because social media made everyone a SJW…my nikka, there was a piss tape in 02 and this fool was running around in 03/04 dressed like the Hamburglar getting trapped in the closet and y’all didn’t find nothing wrong back then :gucci:
Just like many other social questions people advance.

One decade people think gays are some type of virus, the next they don't.
One decade people think rape victims are to blame, the next the raper is to blame.

And I can go on to other social questions, not least those regarding my (our?) race.

Another dimensions is also, 1 time might've been a mistake. 2 times perhaps still a mistake, 5th time - nope.

Usher is destroying Chris Brown just by going through the hits on the My Way album :pachaha:

and I'm a fan of both of these brothas, but CB never had the Jermaine Dupri machine behind him giving him hits. He has hits, of course, but Usher's hits are on another level.

Only way CB wins a battle with Usher is if Usher do some silly mess like what Omarion did, and start bringing out songs from them two albums nobody liked (the Switching Places and No Limit and that dumbass song Oh My God he did with that dumbass punkass silly ass fool Will I Am).

And again, those songs were hits for sure, but those were minor hits in the greater scheme of Usher's career, and CB got songs that can go up against them tracks. He can't do nothing with Usher's hits from My Way and 8701 and Confessions.

thats the thing with Verzuz sometimes, artists don't play the right songs :francis:

I thought they sold more records than I thought they did when they were popular. First album only went gold and second went plat with all the R Kelly production on there. They still got certifications which is still a major feat, but I thought they were a bigger selling group than they really were. And your right about “girlfriend sounding dated. R Kelly production those years had like the same sound. Remember this group?

B2K might have rejected this record and Kelly gave that record to them lol. Actually that group sounded better than B2K

Kellz production was everywhere in the early 00s

Um no, we are not talking about a new generation (where social views change) and we’re talking an issue that hasnt been acceptable since the 70’s. nikkas in the 00’s were not good with 30 yr old men preying on 14/15/16 yr old girls let alone peeing on them, but social media didn’t exist to force everyone to moral grandstand. Plenty of people back then were fine separating the art from the artist - “this song slaps but I don’t like this man/condone him.” You making excuses for hypocrites.

And it wasn’t a one time thing, R kelly was absolutely known for this by 04.

I give people who were in high school or younger a pass cuz they might have not really followed the situation, but If you were 20+ back then and rocked with his music despite knowing all that shyt about him, then stand on it.

Dude, true story, a woman fell out with me over R Kelly a couple years ago. When everything was going down with the twitter warriors, she sent me a message late one Saturday night saying "I see you follow R Kelly on twitter. Why are you following him?"

It went downhill from there. Crazy thing is, I was rarely on twitter at the time (I logged in once every 3 or 4 months and had no idea I was following Robert). :dead:

I told the story on here when it happened.

I'm still following him btw

From my impression, that shyt with the girls age wasn’t really as widespread back then. And people gave him the benefit of the doubt that he really didnt know anyones age.

Moreover people also said 17 yo thot, who gives a fukk. That type of benefit of doubt or 17 y/o meh, has changed.

And like I said, that was a one time thing. The Aaliyah shyt was a rumor. But now he’s being viewed as a serial pedo rapist.

Rumors va facts, articles in some magazines vs all over your internet feed - all that matters.

I also don’t see how what you said invalidates what I said. People might’ve not have a fukk enough to stop listening to an artist, as times moved on they do.
And people who were 20 then, might now have 20 year old kids. 20 year olds and 40 year olds don't necessarily think the same.

You’re over in the UK so yes, you seem to not know. that girl he peed on wasn’t 17, she was 14, and that came out in 00/01, we all knew the age. The Aaliyah thing wasn’t a rumor, people knew they were married and had jokes about age ain’t nothing but a number from jump. In 04 kellz got caught with a bunch of pics of underage girls and and was under fire again..this whole time people were aware of both the evidence against him and the stories that came from Chicago about his antics with high school girls, breh got off from his trial in 08 and people were perplexed and had jokes about him then making songs with bow wow…stop it bruh, people knew about this shyt. People also had jokes about the pied Piper moniker being him luring little girls to his lair, his pedo ways were not a secret.

And not giving a fukk about it the first time around is exactly the issue, they’re hypocrites. People were old enough to know that was deviant behavior yet still listened to bruh and it was only when everyone decided virtue signaling on social media was the move that they decided “to care”. That’s not genuine, that’s wave riding. The whole reason people “cancel” a dozen artists per month, easy to bandwagon on some shyt every other month but not truly be behind the cause.

Back when that "age aint nothing but number" album came out when in was in elementary we knew about that R.Kelly and Aaliyah marriage and that was why she started working with Timbaland. Also the industry been knew how Kellz was getting down in the 90s but they took a blind eye to it because he was a hitmaker for artist. Goes right back to all the fake outrage all of a sudden decades later.
