Consensus before I watched it for myself had me thinking this was Lox vs Dipset part 2 when it wasn't. Juvie held it down for Cash Money. Though I will give the edge to No Limit because they had the better energy towards the 2nd half. But this could have been max potential had Wayne and Mystikal been there.

Forget who won. Lets not lie. No Limits music (if you can even call it that) was bad then and its aged even worse.. I see you trying to make out the songs are 'hard' - really the difference lyrically, production wise, concept wise is enormous vs the DF, Suave House, UGK, Rap A Lot ...even Cash Money.

With slight caveat - . If MAC signed to a normal label he may have been ok.

PS - Snopp signed to cash in on the biting success. Thats all. He will do anything for money.

Yep. He ran No Limit like a ponzi scheme and that’s why he had to make “New No Limit” because he owed millions from advances and the records weren’t actually selling.

Again, go look at the No Limit albums that are on streaming and look at who the distributor is.
For example:

Mac “Shell Shocked” = 1998©️ Miko Media LLC, Distributed by RapBay/Urbanlife Distribution

Many of them have only been put on streaming in the last year or 2 via these types of small distributors.

Gotta remember it’s a whole lotta flaw stuff P has done over the years towards Cash Money (like falsely saying him and Baby were doing something together to make himself look good) and the fact people like to not give Baby (and Slim) their credit despite they still own their label, unlike P.

Nevermind the street stuff.

The artists were largely cool with each other (Mac was rapping Cash Money Is An Army with BG last nigbt), but one thing about Baby is if he don’t mess with ya, he aint gonna ever fake it:russ:. You just go ya separate ways

Another thing is Cash Money’s classic songs are still getting play and even going viral in the last year

This was the first time many of those No Limit songs were publicly heard in literal decades.m

CMR songs still in regular rotation at every Black club and HBCU so you just heard em last week😂

The money got them there, not P. Remember the whole Mia X issue just 3 months ago where none came to his faux “farewell concert” at Essence.

Many of them even admitted during the No Limit reunion tour that they didn’t speak to P and just showed up to the shows on some classic rock band ish to get paid and go home since it’s the only show many of them will get🤷🏾‍♂️😂..

CMR is more of a actual family so yeah they gonna argue and stand on principle ala Turk not being there because of his mouth and Wayne being Wayne.

I just hate this was done so unorganized with the wrong people in the wrong place. Should’ve been soooooo much better and the South deserves more.

CMR is musically still relevant with the younger generation. Literally all the songs they did last night still get play at HBCU undergrad parties and bands.

NL not so much at all outside of Choppa Style & Down 4 My N’s.

Proved it how? That wasn’t even a Southern crowd.

I’m at these parties across the South. CMR are still relevant via TikTok, social media, Youngboy, marching bands and club play. Where you think “Hot Girl Summer” came from😂.

They’re still sampling CMR unlike NL. And I say this as a 80’s Baby that deals with the 00 and 10 Babies.

You gotta be 30 & up to really be up on prime NL.

:scust: THIS CAME THROUGH
AND STUNK UP THE THREAD

My final comments on this are people who thought CM would just come in and smoke NL are crazy and just don’t know Nolimits catalog.

Nolimit was a street label that had some mainstream success. They weren’t a mainstream label that relied on singles.

Last night, they played No Limit Soldiers, Break Em off Something, Freak Hoes, Burbans & Lacs, & I can Tell. None of these songs were released as singles and had music videos. However, they were organically played in the streets so much that you’d think they were.

We are talking mid 90s/early 2000s. No limit had a deeper roster, a production team, and deeper catalog against 6 nyggas (hot Boyz/big tymers).
