Let's not get carried away. NL won the versus but they didn't make better music.

NL made a whole lotta noise cause they was alot of people's first introduction to the NO sound. But alot of NL roster was trash. They was dudes straight off the street with no real skill and they roster was huge. that was their whole appeal. But alot of the music they put out was biting other more established rappers.

I will say NL did have a string of catchy chorus heavy hood anthems, which fit perfectly for a versus type show.

But in 98-99, once folks heard CMR, it was a wrap for NL, cause CMR made actual dope music, had their own unique sound, they could flow, their albums were more consistent. CMR made better albums but they made way less music.

CMR had it on lock so bad even NL started biting CMR. Them muthafukkaz even did a movie called "Hot Boyz" starring Silk, Mystikal and Snoop.

Once CMR came in the game NL fell off with a quickness. The only ones people still checked for was Snoop and Mystikal, but Mystikal can't get right and Snoop went back West for more success.

But yeah NL won this versus but they wasn't fukking with CMR

No Limit had already had their run. No Limit was street anthems, Cash Money was commercial/radio hits. The rap game had went away from the stuff and music NL was talking about and getting more into the bop trap music. No Limit to me made better songs, but it was not for everyone. Even if Wayne would have showed up, they still would have lost. What Wayne would have performed, Lollipop, Fireman, Ms. Officer? The damage was already done. Plus everyone talking Wayne, but he was not going to match Mystikal and his raw energy if he was out there. Salute to both, but NL had this in the bag from the start

It probably wouldn't happen or be popular with youngins, but i would love to see a band like Kool & The Gang verzuz somebody. I love their catalog.

Top tier battle. New Orleans was represented well. I'm giving No Limit the slight edge here. The best thing about this battle was there was no vibe the other side couldn't match with a monster record.

I got Tank winning this 7-6, even though CMR got a extra round. Really could have been 40 rounds tbh.

Lotta heat was left on the table by both sides. I was entertained, doe

Cash Money got smoked and I like both camps. It was clear Saturday that No Limit commanded the streets while Cash Money went with the radio and popularity music. No Limit music still sounded fresh as hell to this day, and this was clearly a big brother (No Limit), lil brother (Cash Money) moment on stage out there

I view Nolimit as an independent label that had mainstream success.

I’m not really mad at his perspective. Half the songs Nolimit did on VZ had no singles or videos. That’s mean you had to be in a region of the country where it was organically played in the streets.

These eastcoast nyggas on here were auto giving CMR the win, because they don’t know shyt about break em off something, bourbons & lacs, etc.

Nolimit had so many street hits with no singles/videos its’ crazy
I was in the northeast when No Limit really blew up and we were listening to their shyt on the bus rides to school and in the locker room after football practices, you don't get the features, TV deals and WCW shyt without being a big national brand. Bomani would have been better off going the longevity argument.
