VGA to component cord

Can I connect that to a lab top and to the tv and it show the video and sound?

I priefly researched and from I understand the cable only works for setups that are made to connect VGA to component.. Idk if that makes sense.

Would a converter box be the only option?

Laptop to tv

It's a minne laptop with a VGA and USB connections.. The tv doesn't have a VGA input.. Just components and hdmi

I think VGA to HDMI would be cheaper. either way, you'll need an actual converter box, and not just a cable/cord

it is video only, but getting the audio from the headphone jack shouldn't be a problem
