IIRC Cruz was aiming for something like 5 years/11 million a season/ 30-40 guaranteed. His base on 15 mil guaranteed/ 8 a year would have been the 7.5 he was originally offered by Giants mgmt.

I think he's way overrated...his stats simply don't reflect his actual playing style.

Without that being said, the Giants need him. They are obviously testing the water to see if it's still hot.
