These youtube clowns really trying to get this man killed. Some folks acting like he was really doing them a service by making those videos. Seriously, there is no code of the street thing going on here. It's called being a decent human being.
I'm both ways about this.
Akademiks be talking a lot of shyt on his podcast and its only a matter of time before he got pressed on. He's clearly one of those internet nikkas that's not use to regular interaction outside and clearly a non confrontational cat. Vic smelled that about him and pressed him heavily. Ak a bytch for not standing up for himself when Joey and Deska be slaying him.
But at the same time why didn't Vic press on Taxstone when he was out? Tax was talking HELLA Shyt about Chicago on his podcast with Gillie and Star was talking about a bomb should be dropped in Chicago. Why didn't he press them?
so lemme get this straight, a geek can say anything he wants about anyone (even mock a dead friend) and you can't do anything about it, even just voicing your displeasure about what they said to their face, just because they're a geek?
The problem is the Chicago shyt was distasteful to the point that some folks will never forgive or forget. I think a lot of the issue between Joe and him has to do with his naiveté. He gives off the vibe that he's 26 going on 15. There's a lack of respect for Ak based off his rise largely being due to the Chicago shyt imo coming from Budden, but when he jabs back, it either comes off as a failed joke or just not taken in kind by Joe. At least that's what I see. There's a tiny bit of incompatibility with their personalities imo. If it's best for him in his opinion, then sure, but the man comes off too green. Gotta deal with real life.I see this from multiple perspectives, but honestly... Vic isn't wrong for feeling the way he does. When I first saw the clip on social media, I figured "Well, he probably feels this way because these might be his friends out here dying." And now that I've read the thread, it turns out that Akademiks made a video about someone he knew since he was five. For Vic to feel upset, I think that's only natural. Whether he really felt some type of way to the point of actually wanting to slap him on camera or not remains to be seen, but I do understand how Vic and many other people from Chicago would feel.
I've lived in Chicago for a measly five years, but my youngest sister was born there, so I'll always feel a connection with that city. I have a ton of friends who still live there. And even though we never lived in the rougher areas of town, I feel for the people who live on the rougher ends who get trapped in that lifestyle with no way out. You got people dying for no reason, and then even having innocent people losing their lives as well. It's not funny, it's a very real situation to those who face that reality every day, or know someone that does. I completely understand, and this is why Akademiks should've been more careful when touching these topics. You can't be ridiculing people for something serious and expect them to not check you. Never mind Chicago or rap shyt, that's true in life as a whole. Don't be poking bears unless you're prepared for the consequences. Just be glad it was Vic Mensa, and not Fredo Santana, of all people.
Other than that? I feel like Akademiks should leave Everyday Struggle, because it's clear that he's being disrespected left and right over at Complex. Joe shyts on him constantly, Nedeska doesn't seem to take him seriously... Sometimes it's better to take the long route and say fukk the money, because it just seems that he's become Rap's Punching Bag. Not that he hasn't earned it sometimes, but I can only imagine that there's only so much he's willing to endure. He's only human, so I'm sure it gets to him. Even the comment section in that new video with Lucci and Thug are filled with "Yo Ak, you should leave ES". It's the Internet age, he can build a platform by himself. There's YouTubers with not even a quarter of his subscriber count providing professional quality content, he has the reach to do the same. Be the black Philip DeFranco or something. At least he'd have the freedom to share and discuss the content he wants without having dudes yell in his face everyday.
Imagine being sad for the rest of the day because some emo eye liner wearing suburban nikka calls you a bytch and wants to slap you. Akademiks keeps making himself looks like a bytch no matter what.
I don't say anything online that I wouldn't say to anyone's face
Akademiks is a media personality. You get no points for attacking him sorry
I'm not even sure what he says that gets y'all so riled up in the first place
Like I said before, it's displaced anger/frustration
I remember watching Charlemagne's podcast on an episode that featured DJ Akademiks. CTG was telling him he had nothing to gain by doing this show and that his platform was already more relevant than Complex. Looking back on it...he was right. He's constantly getting sonned and disrespected on this show...and he honestly don't need this shyt.
Sadly yes. Ak a bytch.Complex needs AK more than AK needs complex
Wish I could rep this twice. Vic Mensa was 100% right with what he saidOnly people defending Ak or the guys that want to be able to talk tough online with no consequences
Freedom of speech does not mean freedom of repercussions. Stop talking if you can't defend yourself. A couple of you internet nikkas need to get your jaw broke just so you can know shyt gets real.
He was 100% right to get at him I don't think anyone disagrees.Wish I could rep this twice. Vic Mensa was 100% right with what he said
