Vick's best receiver for the majority of his career was Crumpler :beli:

Young was literally surrounded by Hall of Famers. The fact that Vick's best tools were his feet and his arm were what led to that offense fundamentally changing how scrambling QBs are used today. Necessity being the mother of invention and all that good stuff.

I do agree with you though.

I still have nightmares of Vick throwing a perfect play action pass along the sidelines to Roddy vs. the Saints in the Georgia Dome right into Roddy's arms and Roddy being wide open & dropping it. Outside of a young Roddy, who really wasn't a factor, Mike had Crumpler, Peerless Price :beli: & Michael Jenkins. Mike had no help. It was all on him to make plays

@JLova Reeves WAS grooming Vick right. It's no coincidence that Vick's best passing season & only road playoff win came under Reeves. When Vick got hurt the following preseason vs. the Ravens, that season was pretty much done & so was any chance of Reeves continuing to develop him as a QB b/c Blank didn't like Reeves and was ready to fire Reeves as soon as he slipped up

Vick made more nikkas wanna be a QB first black QB to go #1:yeshrug:

Now this whole new generation of Qbs Kaep Killa Cam RG3 are Vicks offspring

Yeah because we never saw a black QB and/or a QB with athletic ability run around before Vick. Everybody was just a white, pure pocket passer before Vick was the first to say "Hey QB's can be black and run too :gladbron:!" :comeon: Dude was electrifying and had a world of potential that he frankly squandered. Let's stop making him more than what he was though.

With all due respects to the running QBs that came before Vick:whoo: We're going to pretend todays running QB aren't mini-Vicks:comeon: I've never heard Wilson, Kaep, Killa, or RGknees mention Randall:mjpls:

The dudes weren't alive when Randall was doing his thing so obviously had more of a direct impact on them. That doesn't mean he started anything. Ol' Christopher Columbus ass nikka :russ:

That's ur opinion breh breh the numbers say otherwise
:beli:
No, the numbers say Vick is nowhere near as good as Cunningham and Young.
Once he losses all of his speed its a wrap...Cunningham and Young still could play when they got older.

I think people are missing the point about this.

Was Vick the first scrambling QB? No. Duh.:stopitslime:. Of course not.

Was he the first scrambling QB to have his feet utilized as a primary threat within a modern offense? Absolutely. The threat of him and in the future guys like him taking off on these set in stone front 7 protocols was what changed the game up.

If Vicks Offensive Coordinator's in his prime would of been more prepared, he would of tore the league to pieces with the Wildcat..

Vick went through the tribulations of having to use his elite ability with just average, and somewhat clueless coaching so these other Young G's wouldn't have to go thru that....

Imagine of fresh atlanta falcon vick being coached by chip kelly today :ohhh:

If my dikk was 4ft long I'd slap bytches in the face from 4ft away :pachaha:

He ain't wrong though. Defensive coordinators used to believe that in the worst possible case scenario they'd have to designate a player to watch the QB every once in a while. Then it had to be a LB. Then it had to be a freak athlete. Then they had to draft guys just for it. Then they had to redesign their entire defense just for one game. Then they had to save a spot on their roster for running backs and WRs as their scout team QBs.

Then people other than Vick started taking off outchea :sas1:

Dude made it happen. Changed the game. Now all of a sudden offensive coordinators don't like pocket passers as much because it means that they'll be looking at 11 defenders instead of 10. Gotta give Vick his props. Him taking off and styling on dudes was the NFL's equivalent to the introduction of the 3pt line.

Let that man cook. :salute:
Excellent post

Naw. They respected the arm. They didn't respect his WRs to be on the same page with him ever though. He didn't even need to wind up on some 5-7 step drop bs like you see other guys do.

The issue with Vick is that all of his greatest strengths were homerun type abilities. He had a cannon and could take off on you the moment your DE forgot his contain duties. Everything outside of that was up in the air and on a week to week basis. That didn't change the fact that defenses didn't have a choice but to respect both or end up on a halftime highlight reel.

No. Vick didn't start shyt. Vick was just explosive and in a time where QBs just didn't run much he did. Steve Young was outrunning DBs before Mike threw a football.

Exactly, he just brought it back. Fran Tarkenton was running all over dudes back in the day. Randall Cunningham and Steve Young after that. He needs to go to the bookstore and pick up a history book on the NFL.
