Victim’s Rape Kit Was Used to Identify Her as a Suspect in Another Case

these aren’t options the police were presented with…they had access to a black woman’s DNA and ran a check on it on a whim…it just so happened she was involved in another crime

its not a whim, theyre doing this everywhere as procedure. theyre running everthing they get their hands on regardless of how they got it...

i had my dna taken for a case. i beat the case.. they were supposed to destroy it but i guarantee im on their database forever now

-The whole point is whether DNA from a rape kit should be entered into the database at all. It wouldn't really matter if it was a past or future crime, it's tracking & identifying you.

I don’t think I said anything that would indicate that I didn’t understand that. But the question is really going to be whether to REMOVE that DNA from the database. I imagine “logging it” is a part of the process of the rape kit and that data may be used at some point in the future to compare the findings to the DNA of the accused.

The real solution here is DON’T COMMIT A CRIME… but given the corrupt nature of our police, you still may be at risk.
