That's not the reason bro. America is extremely racist. I'll say it one more time. America is extremely racist. But that racism has different volumes for different groups. Reparations for black people are the wrong kind of reparations. Whereas "reparations" for other groups doesn't elicit the same response. Black politicians don't bring it up because we're 13-15% of the population. You go too pro-black and you lose the (racist) white liberals, soccer moms and the drunk house wives. Now with AOC, she can talk about a multitude of policies for Hispanics, illegal immigrants and dreamers without that much political blowback because whites who'd be foaming at the mouth about black people getting anything would be cool about Hispanics (they came here for a better life!, they were kids when they came!, they're escaping violence and gangs!). They'd get to pretend to be humanitarians who care about the world. I don't know what the answer is. I'm with you in that black politicians should speak up about it but, the reality is if they do, they're gonna be one term politicians. Maybe once it becomes an accepted policy, then everything will be fine but, all the politicians who bring it up first are going to have short careers.
