Forreal, even tho that album was trash it was the last time it felt like an Eminem albumEminem really ain't been "Eminem" since Encore.
For as bad as that album was, that was the last time he was "Eminem"
Everything post Encore has just been him being a parody of himself.

To be fair Relapse kinda felt like an Eminem album even though it wasn't that good and was ruined by that stupid accent. It was completely produced by Dre and it didn't have him making corny love songs with pop stars like Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, and Rihanna in a blatant attempt to appeal to mainstream radio and get a hit. Every Em album before followed that formula. No guest spots outside of the Shady/Aftermath family and certainly no corny love songs with pop singers. But Relapse not getting the response he would've liked is what made him start making those songs in the first place because he didn't want to risk flopping again.Exactly.
The album was a pile of shyt.
But shyt, even with that said, the decent songs were better than the shyt he's come out with since them
Yellow Brick Road, Spend Some Time, Never Enough, Mockingbird, Toy Soldiers, Encore, Mosh >
Only Eminem song post Encore I can say was good is "Beautiful". That's it. Everything else has just sounded like a parody, bland, corny or wack.

But Relapse had some flashes of the real Eminem on songs like Beautiful, My Mom, Deja Vu, Careful What You Wish For, and My darling. And then the Mariah Carey diss track that came out that year was fire too.
But everything post 2009 is borderline unlistenable.
Exactly.

"Never Enough" goes hard. Both Em and 50 took that beat to school.
All three bonus tracks were dope too. You had Eminem being political and smug to the point where he wondered how he still gets away with this stuff ("We As Americans"), you had introspective/emotional Eminem being as mature about his relationship with Kim as he could ("Love You More"), and then you just had a straight freestyle where he rapped about a bunch of different topics, but let you know you still couldn't fukk with him especially since he created an untouchable trio with Dre and 50 ("Ricky Ticky Toc").
I agree when Encore felt like the last stand for classic Eminem. To me, it started out pretty good and then went downhill with "Puke." I love Relapse, but on that album, he's being experimental, trying out different flows and voices. Plus, the subject matter does stop the album from having a higher status. But at least he's rapping with some confidence and riding the beats like he used to.
The only time classic Eminem has made an appearance for me is with "Groundhog Day."
