its not hype, the budgets just arent what they used to be. i think his shooting style is still dope but the internet killed the days of big budget epic creative videos. the only ones who can pull it off are artists who have unlimited budgets like hov, kanye, diddy, etc

I feel like if you really care about your product you'll spend some of your own money on videos n such.

This right here. The thing most people dont realize is Diddy, Hov, and Kanye although they do have bigger budgets than any other artists (and rightfully so) they invest alot of their own money into their projects as well. Kanye has stated many of times how he's paid millions of dollars out of his own pocket on his projects and Im sure Diddy and Jay have done the same. When you're willing to invest in yourself other people are going to be willing to give you that much more, I mean who would you rather offer a 1 million dollar budget to, someone who is offering to match your million (hell or even put up another couple hundred thousand) OR someone who's offering nothing?

real fukkin talk right here.

artists dont care anymore nowadays about their videos as a piece of art and taking ownership of that shyt. they just record their verses and expect the labels to fund everything and let the producers and video directors do the rest of the work.

watch this vid of kanye, i know its from a comedy prank but you can tell he put up his own money and took ownership because hes passionate about the song & video

Kanye West Gets Punk'D On The Set Of Jesus Walks - YouTube

:laff: How have I never seen this. That nikka Kanye really just snatched that shyt and ran. But you gotta love dudes passion. And that right there is the perfect video to explain this position. How many artists do you know are willing to snatch THEIR film out of someones hands and take off into a moving van in order to keep possession of THEIR work, there just arent too many.

nikkas say Kanye overproduces and over does stuff and tries too hard but when did going aoing above and beyond expectations ever become a bad thing? Say what you will about his character, his simping, sometimes feminine mannerisms but the one thing you cant say is he doesnt put any effort and there are alot of simps in hiphop, and alot of fake pretend thugs in hiphop but how many ppl in hiphop/rap can we say "try too hard" or "do too much"? By the state of hiphop today, Ill say very few. Compare the people who "try too hard" and "do too much" and compare that to those who do everything but "tryin too hard" and you'll see there's a disproportionate amount of "artists" in one of these categories.
