It takes millions of dollars to open up your own game studio... Computers, Writers, Coders, Devs, Designers, Artists, It's alot of money.... And you cant make a game that flops... you'll fold alot of times if it does... I mean the best thing you can hope for is if either microsoft or sony hooks you up with a fat game making contract.

If you're talking about having a game published on a gaming console then you're correct. But anyone can get into PC game development. There are free programming tools available all over the net. You can pirate 3D software (3DS Max) and Photoshop. Ditto for music making software. When I was 16 me and my friends would code games together just for fun and we barely had any money. So utilizing that strategy combined with kickstarter you could really go somewhere.

I wholeheartedly agree with you.... wonder why any black millionaires havent funded video game creation instead of fukking rap labels....???:dwillhuh:

kickstarter is a great idea...
for some strange reason black people dont fukk with the visual arts as much as they should. we are 12-14% of the population and like 1% of the video game and animation population. some of it due to CACery, but some of it is also due to lack of interest on information about the shyt.

We also get ostracized for being associated with such things. I used to be a computer programmer and wanted to be a game designer and many people called me an uncle tom because of it. Even on this very site black people who are into anime, comic books, or sci fi movies are made fun of.

It's preferred to be into ignant shyt like spending hundreds of dollars on shoes: http://www.thecoli.com/threads/who-else-copping-those-new-yeezys-tomorrow.294925/

I wont take it as far as being called a tom, but people do be looking at me crazy when they ask "oh what do you do" and i go "i draw shyt for money" :russ: i remember when i was a younger art dude just trying to get in and black broads were always confused by the fact that i was a creative. :manny: when i see young brehs and brehettes drawing, i always encourage them.

Word.

This guy for instance started a kickstarter for a 3d platformer and he's the only person making the game.

Axiom Verge, another game is being developed by one dude and that's on it's way to PS4/Vita later next month. Certainly, a group of blacks can band together to start off with a few indie games here and there and hopefully create something bigger.

Yeah but instead we'll just keep making excuses and be angry with white people for not including us at the table. There are numerous resources available for one to forge his own path. I guess entrepreneurship is heavily discouraged in the black community.
