The long and short of it is since the current CEO stepped into the role, MS started focusing more on cloud services. That focus has given them more revenue from business customers and now makes up the lions share of microsoft's money.
To continue to pump that section of their business they are focusing on A.I. and trying to force you to stay connected to the internet so that everything you do has some connection to the cloud. The focus is not on quality user experience, but justifying the money theyve spent on cloud services and using the revenue from that as promotional material to lure more investors.

Why is auto-hide still trash. Why is Windows Explorer still constantly crashing. Why is multi-monitor support still buggy and missing features. Why can't I make folders on the task bar, a feature that fukking cell phones have. So many more I can't even remember right now.
