conservatives who would be inclined to watch are the ones who make up the biggest drop. i have no problem with players kneeling, speaking out, black lives matter message all over the court and on player's jerseys, but those who do have a problem with it are choosing not to watch.
Ummm....it has more to do with people losing their jobs and not paying for cable.

They don't care. They weren't watching anyway and the age demographic who watches the NBA are still viewers.

Wheres the ratings then? Whites are the people who watch and spend their money, blacks don't
It’s the middle of the summer. We don’t even have anything to compare it to because the NBA never plays during this time. There’s no protest going on with the NFL on hard knocks why is their ratings down. It’s an election year and unprecedented circumstances, less people are just watching sports and cable as a whole not just the NBA. You came in on your conservative white man bag and your not seeing the whole picture.

Context is always important tho.

Meaning, a WWE comparison is disingenuous given that WWE Raw is once a week while there are literally 5 different NBA games everyday with half the teams this past week sitting out their stars waiting for the playoffs.

The doom and gloom ass pulls were predictable once the NBA took on the civil rights stance in their marketing. Last week the ratings were on par with pre-pandemic numbers, however the reported "news" had that Trump spin. Funny how that works.

NBA playoffs can have triple these nightly ratings but if it's on par or lower than last year's, we already know the spin job coming. Not a peep when ratings are strong, nor discussion of the actual games tho. American "news" in 2020.
I think a ton of old people watch wrestling as well and tv watch it on cable, a lot of folks stream the nba!

the first guy quoted goes on to say that those are just national numbers and are not bad

meanwhile la times is reporting that everything is doing well, especially mlb: Sports-hungry fans are welcoming live events back to TV

"NBA viewing in prime time on TNT and ESPN since July 30 is even with pre-pandemic levels. But the games have a larger share of the TV audience — which is typically smaller overall in the summer — than they did before action was paused.

The number of people who have tuned in to NBA games over the 12 days since play resumed — 47.2 million — is 49% higher than the 31.7 million who tuned in during the first 12 days of the season, according to Nielsen."

i think any reporter writing that the ratings are bad doesn't understand tv ratings or is just parroting clay travis. that second "article" in the op is just a summary of an article from clay travis's terrible website.

the kneeling and pandering matters. nobody tunes into the NBA for mire politics its entertainment.

to say they haven't lost fans is being naive.

This is definitely an outlier take. I hooped 3x a week pre-covid. Aint nobody tryna play basketball in the midst of this disease. Most of bball crew has switched to golf. lol

where did you used to hoop at?

Me and my brother would drive from Fayetteville to Tyrone some weekends hoping to catch some white boys at this court down there and ball out on their asses. I forgot the name of it

The NBA panders all the time. They’re just pandering to some cause they don’t like.

Show me a person who claims they tune in to see the anthem on TV and I’ll show you someone who’s in line ordering beer during the anthem at an event.
