Stupid pride has been many of men downfall. There is always a time and a place. What he said and where he said was not the time and place. If his stock was on a rise in regards to endorsements and mainstream success, it will take a hit because of his decision. Contrary to popular belief, the music game is a business. Talent has little to do with success these days. You have to be able to finesse your hand and play it well. Being opinionated is cool, but you have to have some stock in your brand before you go throw your success out the window. This is not only smart thinking but its smart hustling. In 5 years when he is down and out nobody will care about he shytted on the game, nor will they care about when he was on. But people like you will big him up and say he was a real one, however wont care to send him a dime for his "realness"

Why do any of you clowns give a damn about Spotify's bottom line? Their business model is exploitative, fukk em.

lol he went in their house, ate their food, and told them that they ain't shyt. Lmfao. You guys are such slaves to the industry that you've adopted the mentality & stance of a house negro. And I know some of y'all are white, but still. This forum is supposed to be for hip-hop fans.

But from a consumer perspective we dont give a shyt if their model is exploitative. Its either A) Ill pay some streaming service to have a large pool of music to choose from that includes your album or B) Ill pirate your shyt. Its not like if Spotifiy didnt exist i was going to go out and buy this dudes album. Id just go back to using muisc pirating sites, torrents, and newsgroups to get the music for free.

I like Vince Staples as an artist but this is the equivalent of taking a paycheck from a chemical processing company than speaking out against pollution. Talking out of both sides of his mouth. Now I'll admit, streaming service do not compensate their artists all that well but it does provide much needed exposure so that you can make your real paycheck that's through touring and merch. Look it's wavy to take a stand against what seems like an unfair deal but Spotify is the best way for young talent to get their ears out there because lord knows most of you Coli cat's aren't buying his CDs.

Can someone put me on to why spotify is evil? I use and pay for their service. This, on top of Kanye's album not being available, has me feeling a certain way.

They pay artist shyt. Kick them down pennies for thousands of streams. Which is pretty fukked up considering how much they probably make in ad revenue

Soundcloud has and become a way better platform for smaller artists at least in terms of gaining exposure :yeshrug:
