The NFL is a business.

The Pats are up against their salary cap. They have more important (and better) players as free agent priorities (Revis and McCourty).

Wilfork is a 34-year old, injury-prone nose tackle demanding $10M for next season. While he's had a great career with us, his better days as a player are behind him. The Patriots are smart for letting him go. They can find a younger player who's just as good as Wilfork was last season for a cheaper contract. They did what they had to do to avoid going over the salary cap.

Everything else is emotion.

The circle of life in the NFL.

After the Patriots' first Super Bowl win, they missed the playoffs the next year. After they won their 2nd Super Bowl in 2003, :beli: said the mistake he made the first time was failing to get younger. So they cut big Ted Washington, drafted Vince to replace him and they repeated.

Now Vince is seeing the other side of the spectrum. :wow:

lol@ loyalty. He's one of the few players Bill has ever made concessions for. Dude is going to be 34 and was due a a big nut of money and they are up against the cap and trying to keep Revis and others. Vince wants to a big nut still so hell have to go somewhere else to get ti, no harm no foul.

I'm trying to figure out when Vince was so "loyal" that it's being thrown in his face.

The coli is acting like he he took paycuts to stay in New England.

Center self, inner self
I think he knew this from last season. He refused a pay cut last year, they settled on a deal whih enabled the Patriots to evaluate after the first year.

He has been great, but I don't think the Pats have done him dirty. He's leaving with a SB ring on his finger.

atleast he got his ring
Isn't this his second ring? Could have sworn his rookie year was 2004...
