I don't agree with people that say it died in 99-00, imo it fell off after the movie. It's a decent show now but nowhere near its prime or the early 00s. I think Family Guy actually had a much sharper decline, but this past season was really good.

I always tell people The Simpsons peak was so good that people can't look past it to enjoy that some of the newer episodes are actually good too.
